On Tuesday, June 24th 2025, The Embassy of Guatemala in India organized an event to donate literary works and bibliographic material on Miguel Angel Asturias, 1967 Nobel Laureate in Literature, as well as a commemorative photograph of his visit to India to the prestigious Cervantes Institute in New Delhi.
During the event, Professor Gaurav Kumar and Professor Sonya Surabhi Gupta, President of the Association of Spanish Teachers in India and President of the Association of Hispanists of India respectively, shared words of information and reflections on the distinguished author and his work, as well as on his visit to India in 1957 as keynote speakers.
A video message on the subject by Dr. Lucrecia Mendez de Penedo, Deputy Director of the Academy of the Language of Guatemala and Director of the Miguel Angel Asturias Chair at the Rafael Landivar University of Guatemala was also projected.
This significant event aimed to strengthen the presence of Guatemala and promote the knowledge of the legacy and contribution to Latin American and universal literature of Miguel Angel Asturias in the Republic of India.
